Aliah University is a state-owned autonomous university that mainly caters to the higher educational needs of the minority community in West Bengal.
With campuses at Park Circus, Taltala New Town, it offers courses in engineering, management, nursing, and arts apart from those in Islamic theology subjects. The university has a rich history dating back to 1780 when it was known as Calcutta Mohammedan College and Aliah Madrasah.
